RIDGEVIEW: Ridgeview Care Partners, a fictional home care agency used here for illustration, today announced the opening of a free caregiver training academy at its main office.

The academy will run four-week evening courses covering personal care, dementia basics, safe transfers and infection control. Graduates who complete the course are offered a job interview but are not required to accept.

"We kept losing good people because they couldn't afford training," said Priya Shah, the agency's owner. "So we stopped charging for it."

Program details

  • Four cohorts a year, 15 students each.
  • Classes run Monday to Thursday evenings.
  • Course materials and a first-aid certificate are included.
