Brightway Home Care, a fictional regional operator, has acquired two independent agencies in the Lakeshore market. The deal adds roughly 300 private-pay and waiver clients and about 220 caregivers.
Who is involved
- Buyer: Brightway Home Care, now with 11 locations.
- Sellers: Harbor Companions and Lakeshore Senior Helpers, both family-owned.
- Price: Not disclosed.
What changes for clients
Brightway says both agencies will keep their office staff and phone numbers for at least a year. Caregivers will move to Brightway's payroll in the first quarter.
"We wanted owners who had built real relationships with families. Those don't transfer if you rebrand on day one," said Brightway's chief executive, Alan Ortiz.
Why it matters
Small agencies in the region have been fielding more acquisition offers as buyers look for caregiver rosters rather than client lists. Owners thinking about a sale should get a clean set of financials ready before the first call comes in.
