Press Releases Q&A
[Sample] Q&A: When should a home care agency send a press release?
Not every update is news. Here is how to tell the difference.
Sample article for testing the newsroom layout. The agencies, people and figures below are fictional.
Owners often ask our fictional newsroom when to send a press release and when an announcement is not worth one. These answers are a starting point.
What counts as news?
A new location, an acquisition, a new program with numbers behind it, a major hire or a recognized award. Changes that affect clients or caregivers in a real way.
What does not?
A new website, a logo change, a holiday greeting or a routine anniversary under ten years. Share those on social media or in your newsletter.
How far ahead should we send it?
For events, two to three weeks ahead. For completed news, such as an acquisition, send it the day it is final.
Who should receive it?
Trade publications, your local newspaper and business journal, and the referral partners who would care. Keep the list short and relevant.
Should we follow up?
One short email a few days later is fine. Do not call to ask whether it will run.
